Roger Federer's Forehand

Roger Federer's Forehand is a masterpiece of dynamic technique and focus - his head is still and his eyes track the ball throughout the stroke. By driving up and through the ball he creates enormous power. A common error is for a player to lift their head mid-stroke

Picture 1: Roger begins his take back, coiling like a spring, by beginning to turn his shoulders and hips.

alt

Picture 2: He is fully rotated. Notice how well he is tracking the ball and how he prepares to 'step out' behind the ball

alt

Picture 3: Roger is ready to unleash his racket towards the contact point. His weight is back on his right leg ready to transfer forward as he swings towards the ball

alt

Picture 4: The power has been released up through the legs, hips, shoulders and arm with the last link of the chain his wrist. Notice how it is 'laid back' at 90 degrees to his forearm.

alt

Picture 5: The force of the explosion of power lifts Roger into the air. His head remains still and his eyes are still focused on where contact with the ball was made.

alt

Picture 6: Roger lands with his weight slightly forward. His head has still not moved, his base is wide and his knees slightly bent, ready to drive him back to the ready position for the next shots.

Why should I upgrade to Internet Explorer 7? Microsoft has redesigned Internet Explorer from the ground up, with better security, new capabilities, and a whole new interface. Many changes resulted from the feedback of millions of users who tested prerelease versions of the new browser. The most compelling reason to upgrade is the improved security. The Internet of today is not the Internet of five years ago. There are dangers that simply didn't exist back in 2001, when Internet Explorer 6 was released to the world. Internet Explorer 7 makes surfing the web fundamentally safer by offering greater protection against viruses, spyware, and other online risks.
