2 Handed Backhand Tip

IMAGE 1

  • Split step in preparation for the next ball
  • Christina has not yet seen what shot is coming (feet have not opened any direction)
  • Upper body relaxed eyes trying to see what is coming

IMAGE 2

  • Beautiful preparation for the backhand, racket back early feet in position
  • Legs bent, hips and shoulders turned, weight equal on both legs
  • Racket lovely above the wrists, shoulders level and balanced

IMAGE 3

  • As the racket starts forward notice the wrists have dropped the racket below the ball
  • Weight is driving forward with the racket
  • Eyes fixed on the ball

IMAGE 4

  • Racket travels totally thru the ball
  • Lovely straight left arm at full extension
  • Weight has transferred fully onto front foot

IMAGE 5

  • Both elbows are perfectly high allowing full follow thru behind the back
  • Left leg follows the ball (only with the end of follow thru, NOT with the swing)
  • Upper body straight with shoulders level for good balance

MAIN POINTS
Racket must drop below the wrist before contact
