Andy Murray Serve Return Tip
In this tennis tip we show 3 different serve returns of Andy Murray. David Sammel gives the key points of each one below.
Image 1
• This is a tough swinging serve so Andy is reacting to step out wide slightly off balance due to speed of the serve
• Arms in symmetry with hips and shoulders turned
• Head is still and eyes track the ball
Image 2
• He has just made contact so racket has slightly come up thru the ball (almost a flat return)
• Shoulders leaning forward to get weight behind the return (left over right without bending the torso)
• Hips still turned with eyes fantastically focused on the ball
Image 3
• Perfect contact point in front of the body
• Left arm has not pulled left(common error), but in sync with the racket arm
• Weight is leaning forward to counter the weight of the fast ball (upward of 115mph) so body is not pushed upward causing the head to lift
